Winter Sessshin
January 8-12
Cost TBD
Winter sesshin includes a rigorous schedule of silent seated meditation, daisan (face-to-face teaching), chanting services, work practice, dharma talks, and formal oryoki meals.
We’re very much looking forward to reuniting with you in person and continuing to include our faraway sangha by Zoom.
RSVPs
If you plan to attend in person and will be present for at least one meal, please reply to Elizabeth with dates and meals so our tenzos can prepare enough food but not too much. Those of you who’ve cooked in the past know an uncertain headcount adds to the stress of choosing recipes to please a broad range of tastes and diets and shopping for ingredients to feed the sangha. Please help give our cooks an accurate count to lighten their burden and avoid food waste and shortfalls.
Tenzos
We need tenzos, so if you’re willing to volunteer, that would be especially appreciated. Cooks are responsible for choosing vegetarian recipes and purchasing ingredients (the cost should be deducted from the retreat fee). Meals will be prepared during samu and tenzos will be assigned helpers, so if a lack of cooking skills is holding you back, that part can be delegated. I’m happy to provide more details and answer questions for those considering tenzoing. Please reply to Elizabeth if you want to cook.
Housing
If you’re interested in sleeping in the house or a cabin, please reply to Elizabeth. The cost for a private room per person TBD. Special accommodations are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
